MALVERN MEMORIES.

Malvern Mall Memories was a community commemoration event hosted on March 10, 2024. We celebrated and commemorated the mall before it is displaced. The mall is losing its economic function but still serves important (but informal) social and cultural functions. The heritage sector has long been unable and unwilling to engage with the cultural heritage value of spaces that are important to low-income, racialized, and newcomer communities. We came together to talk about how we see the value here even if they can't. It was a fun time, hanging out with neighbours, reminiscing about the past and imagining exciting futures!
